Marks & Spencer wins the 2015 Home Grown Retail Award for the promotion and support of UK-grown plants and flowers.
The BPOA’s Home Grown Users Group has presented the Home Grown Retail Award to Marks & Spencer plc at the National Plant Show, Stoneleigh
Marks & Spencer’s Sam Shepherd collected the award following the the BPOA’s recognition of M&S’ efforts to support British-grown plants and flowers at both their “Blooms of the British Isles” display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015 and in-store. The award was presented by well-known plant hunter and gardens personality, Tom Hart-Dyke of Lullingstone Castle http://www.lullingstonecastle.co.uk

Home Grown Retail Award background
As part of the BPOA’s drive to increase recognition of the Home Grown brand and, in turn, British-grown product, the BPOA’s Home Grown Users Group launched awards in 2014 to recognise excellence and support in growing, retailing and promoting British ornamental plants.
The first Home Grown Retailer Awardin 2014 was designed to recognise the contributions made by a multiple retailerwith regards tothe large scale promotion of British-grown Poinsettias. This was presented to Sainsbury’s at the National Plant Show in 2014 for their commitment to using 100% British Grown Poinsettias and communicating this to the buying public.
In the next few weeks, on 8th September, there will be an award presentation at Four Oaks Trade Show in Cheshire to recognise the Home Grown Garden Centre of the Year and the Home Grown Grower of the Year
